🏛️ Organization Background
Founded in 1989, the S. Mark Taper Foundation is a private family foundation dedicated to enhancing the quality of people's lives by supporting nonprofit organizations and their work in communities. The Foundation is committed to grantmaking that aligns with the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion, aiming to overcome systemic disenfranchisement based on race, gender identity, sexual orientation, and disability.
💼 Types of Grants & Funding Areas
The Foundation provides three types of grants:
General Operating Support (GOS): Unrestricted funding to support an organization's overall operations.
Program Support: Funding designated for specific programs or projects within an organization.
Capital Support: Funding for capital projects such as building renovations or equipment purchases.
The Foundation typically funds organizations working in the following fields:
Arts
Civic Affairs
Education
Environment
Health
Social Services

- Organizations with fiscal sponsors or those affiliated with national/statewide organizations may apply, provided they meet the above criteria.
💰 Funding Amounts

However, for capital grants, the minimum request amount should be $100,000. If the planned request amount is under $100,000, it is recommended to apply for General Operating or Program Support instead.
