As the measurement specialist for the Office of Polar Programs (OPP) Postdoctoral Research Fellowships (OPP-PRF), my role is to ensure that grant recipients are meeting their intended outcomes and that the program is effectively supporting early career scientists in expanding their work across disciplines. This involves clearly defining success metrics, tracking progress, and reporting on the overall impact of the funding.

Defining Concrete Outcomes

The OPP-PRF program aims to provide opportunities for early career scientists, including social scientists, to accomplish one or more of the following goals:

  1. Expand their work across traditional disciplinary lines
  2. Develop new collaborations and partnerships
  3. Gain experience in different research environments
  4. Enhance their professional skills and career development

To measure the success of the program, we must first establish concrete, measurable outcomes that align with these objectives. Some key performance indicators (KPIs) we will track include:
